The institute was established in 1948. The structure of institute was fixed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Republic of Turkey.
The institute main building of the service, as well as additional services in the new building consist of 45 acres of land and service 12 laboratory and 19 veterinary surgeons. Zoonotic diseases and animal diseases of economic importance , having the diagnosis , examination related matters, which conducts scientific research projects in national enterprise.
Gıda ve Kontrol Genel Müdürlüğü'nün talimatlarıyla Müdürlüğümüzce rutin olarak her yıl düzenlenmekte olan hizmetiçi eğitim semineri resmi ve özel Veteriner hekimlerin katılımlarıyla 18-19 Ekim 2011 tarihinde Enstitümüz konferans salonunda gerçekleşecektir
AB Mesleki Eğitim Programı faaliyet alanında, Samsun Tarım Anadolu Meslek Lisesi’nin yürüttüğü, Samsun Veteriner Kontrol ve Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüğü’nün de ortak olduğu proje, Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı, Avrupa Birliği Eğitim ve Gençli
